Meet Monica Leed – CEO and Owner of Simply Spaced

Hi friends! Monica here. I am the owner and CEO of Simply Spaced. Thank you for stopping by!

A little about me…

Despite being born in NJ, I was actually raised in Arizona. My memories of the desert, the smells after the monsoon, the fiery pink and red sky at sunset, the vast and quiet sand, these are my favorite things on earth.  Arizona – my heart center is the inspiration for my rebrand. I am a designer, organizer who spends her days helping creatives get organized. In case you didn’t already know, I LOVE organizing (NERD ALERT!!!).

My background? I moved to LA in 2006 to pursue an MFA in Film and worked in Production Design for over ten years. I am a film junkie through and through. As a filmmaker, I worked in the art department on films both big and small and learned many of the valuable skills around space design and productivity that I use every day with my clients. My hubby is a producer and makes magic happen on screen.

In 2011,  we were dealt a serious blow. My husband and I were hit by a drunk driver in a head-on collision that seriously changed the course of our lives. Without getting into the details, for now, suffice it to say, I took some time to reassess the rat race I found myself in that left me feeling totally and completely out of balance.  Ultimately, I took heed from the universe and made A LOT of changes.

By clearing the emotional and physical clutter that kept me from feeling whole and happy, I transformed my home, my mind, and my life. I cut out ALL the things that were not for my wellbeing. I cut out jobs that left me strung out, people that left me depleted, expectations and emotional baggage that didn’t serve me. I overhauled and decluttered my life. If it didn’t serve my highest self, it was a goner. I soon felt free, in control and unburdened. I didn’t need a lot ( I still live in the same condo I moved into 9 years ago) but I shifted to quality over quantity lifestyle. I felt free and happy for the first time in my life. I was able to write, create do and be for others.

“Once I truly felt the power of a clutter-free life, I knew that I needed to share my experience with the world.”

I wanted other women (and men too) to know the power of less, to understand the benefits of an organized life and to accept the truth – we don’t have to do it all ourselves.

That’s how Simply Spaced was born.

I’ve always been interested in organizing, but the truth is, I haven’t always been organized. What fascinates me most about the job I have now, is that the principles I have learned have made such a huge impact on my own life. As a creative, I can attest to the fact that being organized is life-changing. I really do believe that clearing clutter is a catalyst for creativity. I’ve learned that planning (a concept I never really embraced until I had my own business) is what moves a person from mediocre to extraordinary.

As a professional organizer, I work one-on-one with clients in various creative fields to coach them through the decluttering process. I am lucky enough to work here in sunny California, with clients who inspire and encourage me every day. Wow, the things they have done. I’ve watched them write books, make movies, run businesses, make babies and travel the world. My want for every one of you is the ability to fall into your creative genius, as you born to do.

I love my job, creating my own hours, ever-changing projects, and having autonomy over my schedule. I am inspired by the work that I do, the behind-the-scenes, running a business, branding, and all that goes along with owning your own gig. And most of all, I love transformations. I love connecting with my clients and seeing them experience the life-changing feeling of climbing out of the overwhelm.

I hope that all of you reading this will continue to follow, and have fun right alongside the SS team. I’m so grateful to our community and to all the clients, friends and followers who have made this venture possible.

Cheers to crushing clutter one room (drawer, purse, or pocket) at a time!
