I hail from the Southwest, home of the saguaro and rodeo vacation, but I made my way among the palm trees of sunny Los Angeles, California.
With a background in set design and a masters in film, I got my start on set building sets for fictional characters.
These days, I’m a laid back lady who prefers hammocks to hammers, but I can still build you a four-wall set or organize your home like Mary freakin’ Poppins.
But friends call me Mon
Lately, I’m all about that entrepreneur life and helping high achievers live life to the fullest.
Not that any entrepreneurial journey is ever a walk in the park, but one thing I can say for sure, it’s great to know I found my calling. I am creating worlds at home, with real people and real lives.
WHELP, IT WASN’T ALWAYS SUNSHINE AND RAINBOWS.
Over a decade ago I was a young production designer, full of vim and vigor with a busted bank account but solid work ethic.
These were the days when self care meant a ten minute smoke break and I wasn’t even a smoker. That was life in the fast lane.
You’ll probably hear me tell the whole story some day, but suffice it to say, 17 hour work days and an uncertain future weren’t the hallmarks of the fairytale this starry eyed gal had envisioned.
After graduate school, and several years in the film industry, my life changed in an instant when a drunk driver ran head-on into oncoming traffic.
I nearly lost my life. As I faced a long recovery, I took stock and started making changes. Big, scary, life altering changes; but decisions I could not turn away from. For once, I had crystal clarity on who I was, what was important, and where I wanted to go. I know the universe was telling me to make a change I was scared to make.
By consciously creating space and time for what mattered most, ridding myself of the non-essential, or as organizers call it, decluttering, I learned that order was the catalyst for creativity.
By applying principles and hacks from my own life, I’ve become passionate about helping others create space for what truly matters. As a bonus, I found my passion and calling: helping others change their lives by transforming their homes and routines.
I STARTED CONNECTING WITH CLIENTS IN 2012, AND SHORTLY AFTER, I BECAME AN ENTREPRENEUR
Simply Spaced was born as AN ORGANIZING SERVICE AND LIFESTYLE COMPANY. The goal? To TRANSFORM CLUTTERED MINDS AND SPACES.
With a full roster of high-profile clients that include celebrities, industry leaders, and CEOs, Simply Spaced quickly became one of the most sought-after luxury organizing companies in Los Angeles.
While I really love working with high achievers, I also believe that every one of us can live in a beautiful, joyful home that inspires creativity, calm, and purpose, regardless of its size.
In 2019, I wrote the book Simply Spaced, Clear the Clutter and Style Your Life selling over 35,000 copies in its first year. An Amazon Best of DIY, the book is lauded to be a helpful beginner’s guide to my 3-Step method to organizing every area in your home.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my celebrity clients, but I wrote the book because I wanted to distill my experience into a tangible practice that can be applied to any space, in any home.
After surrounding myself with high achievers for so many years, I can honestly say, I have learned from and observed some of the most brilliant minds in the world.
While we all look up to and get inspired by the rich and famous, the momentous events of 2020 have shifted our values.
Research tells us that, today, people are moving towards a value system that’s more closely aligned with simplicity, interpersonal relationships, and self-sufficiency.
My wish for everyone is the ability to transform your home into a haven that supports your best life, so you can get busy living it.
With over a decade as a professional organizer with a background in design, I am a creative and self-taught organizer. Nope, I was not born organizing my crib. Painting it? Probably. But I believe we can all learn to think like an organizer by adopting the simple tools and tricks of the pros.
By learning the simple tools to simplify, streamline and style my own life, I transformed from a frenetic doer to a steady and accomplished business leader. You can do it too. I am here to help!
